Pérez Bustamante & Ponce (PBP) has appointed five new directors: Andrés Brown (Corporate and M&A), Belén Jaramillo (Labor), David Ortiz (Dispute Resolution), María Isabel Aillón (Mining) and Nicolás Maldonado (Tax and Corporate).
The five new directors have been selected for their high level of performance, leadership, teamwork and clear commitment to PBP.

- Belén Jaramillo
Belén concentrates her practice in the corporate and labor fields, in both individual and collective law, with experience in the administrative, labor and judicial fields. She mainly advises our clients on the prevention of disputes and management of employment relationships with regards to the administrative labor authority.
- María Isabel Aillón
María Isabel advises investors on the award of concessions, structuring of investments and mining regulation. She frequently represents her clients before the sectoral authorities.
Her innate enthusiasm for volunteer work, and her interest in breaking barriers in the energy industry and promoting inclusion and diversity in this unique industry, drove her to found the Ecuador chapter of the international organization Women in Mining (WIM Ecuador). María Isabel is the president of this association which aims to create spaces for the participation and promotion of women in mining.
- Andrés Brown
Andrés is a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions team. He is admitted to practice law in Spain, New York and Ecuador. He advises clients on local and international transactions, acquisitions, joint ventures, asset purchases, share purchase agreements (SPA), shareholders’ agreements (SHA) and other complex corporate matters.
- José David Ortiz
David leads the firm’s constitutional law practice. His experience is focused on representing clients in complex litigation in national and international constitutional, civil and commercial matters. He has represented clients before the Constitutional Court in public actions for unconstitutionality, actions to enforce constitutional rights and actions for violation of judgments.
- Nicolás Maldonado
Nicolás co-leads the team in Guayaquil and concentrates his practice in tax work and the protection of family wealth. He advises legal entities and individuals on tax planning and assists clients with their investments to offer them comprehensive counsel on tax matters, the design and execution of efficient tax structures, corporate reorganization, family protocols and succession planning.
