PBP bets on being a self-generator of green energy

PBP News

Pérez Bustamante & Ponce (PBP), Ecuador’s leading law firm and a specialist in more than 15 practice areas of law, continues to innovate and remains firmly committed to the development and advancement of the country, and now it is an agent of change in terms of environmental care.

To mark the World Energy Saving Day, held every 21 October, PBP joins efforts with the addition of a new solar photovoltaic panel system. This innovation will enable its operations to be energy self-sufficient, making it the first law firm in Ecuador to apply green energy actions. The system, developed using the best technologies, receives energy from the sun and converts it into electricity. The project was implemented based on Regulation No. ARCERNNR-001/2021 which contains provisions for the authorization, installation, connection and operation of a Distributed Generation System for Self-Supply (SGDA), and it was launched once it received the feasibility certificate from Empresa Eléctrica de Quito.

This way, the solar panels will enable the generation of more than 3 million kilowatts of clean energy over the next 25 years. In this sense, it can be said that 3 million kilowatts of self-sufficient energy are equivalent to preventing 46.2 tons of carbon emissions or planting around 63 trees.

Our firm’s responsible and committed work also contributes to raising awareness about the rational and efficient use of energy: “PBP is a firm that evolves and innovates. In addition, one of our main goals is to make a difference. That is why we have worked on this new project. By generating our own clean energy through solar panels, we help the environment, and we are aware of the importance of looking after our natural resources,” said Sebastián Pérez Arteta, managing partner of PBP.

This project joins the Corporate Social Responsibility strategy of PBP, which has been advising and providing legal representation to vulnerable and/or at-risk people and groups for more than 35 years through its Fabian Ponce Ordóñez Foundation.

With this initiative, PBP ratifies its commitment to the environment, generating clean energy and paving the way for more companies to become agents of change with the generation of renewable and sustainable alternative energy sources.
